The prominent materials in window manufacture are wood, aluminium and PVC. While providing the best results in terms of insulation, wood is not in high demand due to requiring constant maintenance, its tendency to deformation and its high cost.  Aluminium, on the other hand, although having high durability, is not very advantageous due to its low insulation values and high cost. PVC, however, is the most popular material due to having good insulation characteristics, a long product life with no maintenance requirement, high durability with suitable design and support elements and lower cost compared to wood and aluminium.

Previously there were many conflicting discussion on PVC as a production material. However, scientific research has shown that PVC has become a material contributing to sustainable development through modern production methods and processing standards.   •          Only 4% of world gas and petrol reserved are consumed in producing plastic, and only 1% of this figure is used for PVC. 40% of the world’s gas and petrol reserved is used in heating and providing buildings with energy.
  •          The basic ingredient of PVC is chlorine obtained from rock salt, and crude oil corresponds to only 43% of the material.
  •          PVC windows are top of their class in terms of eco-balance and in eco-efficiency analyses.
  •          New PVC windows offer a service life of over 50 years.
  •          PVC producers have certain commitments regarding environmental issues and ecological and sustainable production processes.
  •          The PVC content of the windows are recycled in order to produce PVC granules and can be used seven times more for producing windows.

What are the advantages of PVC windows?

PVC windows offer a very good cost / benefit ratio.
PVC windows offer clear cost advantages both at purchase and during their service lives. Wood frames are approximately 20-30% more expensive compared to PVC profiles, and aluminium windows represent the costlier alternative by being 30% more expensive. Considering its high energy saving potential and its requiring minimum maintenance during its entire life cycle of 50 years, it provides long-term savings.

PVC windows are easy to maintain.
The maintenance of good quality PVC windows is very simple, requiring minimum maintenance. Wooden frames, however, require the replacement of their glazing once every two years and painting once every 5 years. The latest technology PVC granule is very durable against the elements and light. Thanks to the easy-maintenance properties of the smooth profile surfaces, the only thing you will need in cleaning the frames is liquid dishwashing detergent.

While 40% of all gas and petrol reserves of the world is used in heating buildings and supplying hem with energy, on 4% of this figure goes to the production of plastic, of which 1% is used in PVC. In addition to being recyclable, the durability and low pollution levels of PVC profiles provide a perfect eco-balance and contribute to the protection of the environment.
